It was this phrase which we, the owners and partners of Firstlight foods, thought best summed up our aspirations for a new meat based food company.

Given the opportunity to start with a clean slate we first looked and listened to the market. We then applied the basic principles which we as individuals believe in, and set about building a supply chain to deliver on our promise.

Provenance is the simple concept of knowing the origins of your product, and the steps in the chain which link it with you. The Firstlight chain offers our farmer shareholders an open and transparent window to discerning consumers around the world, and our customers the assurance of knowing where, how and who is producing the product they enjoy.

We believe in strict animal welfare standards and we view the demands required by our customers as a sign of positive intent, not a hurdle. We are working toward a standard which not only looks after the welfare of the animal, but also minimises the environmental impact of farming practices behind the products we give the Firstlight brand.

The Firstlight Venison Producer Group focus 100% on growing their venison to ensure a high quality meat product. We proudly promise to deliver a mild, tender eating experience on a consistent basis.

The only New Zealand company with Wagyu genetics, and a 12 year history of giving a Japanese cattle breed a New Zealand accent, we believe we have a product which delivers like no other. Words cannot describe the Firstlight Wagyu beef experience, the proof is in the eating.
